TOKYO: Japanese Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio held a summit telephone talk with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Monday evening and reassured the President of Japan’s support in the wake of the devastating earthquakes in the region.
Kishida said that in addition to Japan’s assistance so far in the wake of the earthquake, Japan is going to provide emergency assistance of $8.5 million and additional emergency relief goods.
Japan support has included the deployment of the Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) Urban Search and Rescue Team and Medical Team, as well as the supply of emergency relief goods.
The Prime Minister added that the Japanese Government is ready to provide as much assistance as possible to Turkiye.
Kishida expressed his heartfelt condolences to those who had lost their lives and conveyed his sympathies to those affected.
President Erdoğan expressed his deep gratitude for Japan’s assistance.
