TOKYO: Japan’s NHK Party is making moves to replace House of Councilors member HIGASHITANI Yoshikazu in the event that he is expelled by Japan’s Parliament for taking refuge in Dubai and failing to attend House sessions.

Higashitani is a YouTuber known as GaaSyy who rose to fame exposing celebrity secrets. Japanese police are seeking to arrest him on charges of fraud.

TACHIBANA Takashi, the leader of anti-NHK Party said at a press conference he hoped HORIE Takafumi’s secretary would serve as a replacement, supplanting YAMAMOTO Taro and KUROKAWA Atsuhiko, the party secretary-general, in the selection order.

After the pair accepted the proposal, Tachibana was moved to tears as he thanked Yamamoto and Kurokawa for their “manliness,” adding, “We have no choice but to turn the party’s crisis into an opportunity.”

Higashitani has said that he is willing to return, but has also claimed he wants to get married in Dubai.
