TOKYO: Japan on Tuesday decided to extend Emergency Grant Aid of $2 million to Myanmar and Bangladesh to help them offset the problems caused by Cyclone Mocha, which struck on May 14.

The western part of Myanmar and the Cox’s Bazar district where displaced persons camps are located, as well as various areas of Bangladesh, were severely affected by Cyclone Mocha, which caused considerable flooding.

The Emergency Grant Aid is to be used to provide assistance in the areas of food, water and sanitation, and shelter through the World Food Programme, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Organization for Migration.
