A strong tremble shook Japan’s capital Tokyo and the surrounding prefectures at 2:07 morning of Saturday (Feb. 1) but no damage or injuries were reported.
The Japan Meteorological Agency said in immediate press release that there is no tsunami reported as a result of the earthquake that hit with seismic intensity of 3 in Tokyo.
The epicenter was at the magnitude of 5.3 on the Japanese scale Shindo of 7 degrees at the depth of 70 Kilometer under the town of Nambu in southern Ibaraki prefecture north east of Tokyo.
This level set loud the Emergency Earthquake Early Warning system in mobile phones and other response measures all over Japan.
The quake magnitude was 3 to 4 in Chiba, Kanagawa and Shizuka prefectures, the agency said. In addition, seismic intensity 3 to 1 was also observed over a wide area in the Kanto region and from Tohoku to Koshinetsu and Shizuoka Prefecture.
