TOKYO: Japan is involved in various discussions taking place globally regarding how to secure financing for the reconstruction of Ukraine and how Russia might be held responsible, Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa said on Tuesday.
Speaking about Japan’s position regarding the allocation of frozen Russian assets held by some European countries towards reconstructing Ukraine, Hayashi said: “I do not want to make a premature comment on the response to that part, but in any case,we are going to coordinate closely with related countries including the G7 and respond appropriately.”
Hayashi declined to disclose the extent of frozen Russian assets in Japan but termed the matter “very important.”
