TOKYO: A group of young Japanese and other nationalities staged the third “Sound Up for Palestine” demonstration in Tokyo on Saturday to protest Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip.

The demonstrators aimed to make themselves heard, and they brought along all kinds of objects and implements – including drums, cans, buckets, frying pans, cans, ladles, and maracas—that would make a noise as they gathered on the sidewalk at the entrance to the busy Shinjuku train station in Tokyo.

As they banged their items together, the demonstrators shouted slogans such as “Free Palestine,” “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free,” “Boycott Israel,” and “Ceasefire now.”

They also carried banners with messages like “Solidarity with Palestine and Gaza,” “Stop the Genocide in Gaza,” “Your silence is violence,” and “Stop the Massacre.”

Shinjuku Station is the busiest railway station in the world and sees over 3 million people passing through it every day.
