TOKYO: Palestine’s Fatah Central Committee Secretary General, Jibril Rajoub, vehemently denounced Israel’s rapidly escalating atrocities against Palestinians in the West Bank.

He stressed to Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA Yoko and members of the Japan-Palestinian Parliamentary League the crucial role of Japan’s continued support for the situation and underlined the urgent need for immediate attention and action.

“I updated the Foreign Minister and the MOFA representative to the Middle East about the situation in Gaza and Israel’s unilateral aggression and expanding atrocities to the West Bank aiming to expel the Palestinians and to negate Palestine as a political issue,” Rajoub told Arab News Japan in an interview in Tokyo on Wednesday.

Rajoub called on the international community to recognize and act against Israel’s “expansionist, racist, fascist, and unilateral atrocities against the Palestinians,” emphasizing Israel’s “threat to regional security and global peace.”

Rajoub, also the president of the Palestinian Olympic Committee, expressed his gratitude to the Japanese for their unwavering support in the UN Security Council and for renewing financial support to UNRWA. He emphasized that Japan’s efforts to preserve the two-state solution are a crucial contribution to regional stability and global peace.

Rajoub stressed the need to halt Israel’s unilateral war and aggression in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza. He expressed finding with the Japanese officials in Tokyo common ground and deep understanding toward the conflict, emphasizing the necessity of immediate action.

Rajoub also said that Palestinians have deep appreciation for Japan’s significant contributions to various development projects in Gaza and the West Bank, “a testament to Japan’s commitment to global peace and stability.”
