Saudi leadership pays tribute to former Mauritanian president

DUBAI: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have paid their condolences following the death of Mauritania’s former president Sidi Ould Sheikh Abdallahi, the Saudi Press Agency has reported.

Abdallahi, who was the country’s first democratically elected president, died on Monday.

He died at a private clinic in the capital city of Nouakchott due to heart complications.

The former Mauritanian president assumed his post in April 2017, but was only there for 15 months following a military coup.
