TOKYO: Iran is waging a campaign of oppression against political enemies living overseas, Japanese magazine “Sentaku” said.
The elite monthly publication says Iran aims to abducting Iranians, take them back to Iran and execute them.
According to the magazine, a 44-year-old political activist/journalist was targeted for abduction in the United States where she currently lives. The Iranian woman wrote articles accusing the Iranian regime of corruption, lies and hypocrisy. She said leading Iranians were feathering their nest while pretending to work for the benefit of the Islamic Revolution.
The abduction plan was discovered by U.S. authorities and five suspects have been indicted.
However, not all Iranian exiles are so lucky, Sentaku says. Ruhora Zham, who was the son of a religious leader who contributed to the 1979 Revolution, moved to France after he was imprisoned for participating in an anti-government demonstration in 2009.
He established an anti-Iranian government TV station in France that had more than a million viewers. An Iranian spy contacted him by deceiving him about an interview with the supreme leader of a Shia sect. He was detained and sent back to Iran. Zham was sentenced to death and his execution was announced in December 2020.
There are many cases of harassment and even murder of Iranian exiles. An Iranian anti-government journalist living in the U.S. was quoted as saying, “They refrained from activities overseasfor a while, but completely restored their operations in recent years”. Some say the change is due to the change of administration in the United States. If countries close eyes tosuch unlawful acts, the situation will get worse, the magazine concluded.
