Japan will extend a grant to the Association for Charity and Culture (ACC), to support the installation of solar panel systems in Mabarra boarding school in Harouf/Nabatieh and Adduha high school in Beirut, through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Program (GGP).
On November 18, 2022, Ambassador OKUBO Takeshi signed a grant contract with Ibrahim Shamseddine, President of ACC.
ACC established the Mabarra boarding school in 1981, which provides educational services for orphans, and the Adduha high school in 1992, which offers educational support for children with autism and learning disabilities.
Both schools have been severely affected by the long hours of power outage in the country, which have caused additional generator expenses and reduction of class hours.
Considering the importance of support in the educational sector, Japan has decided to help ACC install solar power system for both schools, which will meet the basic education needs of vulnerable children in the midst of the electricity crisis, and expand schools’ capacity to receive new students.
At the signing ceremony, Ambassador OKUBO expressed Japan’s keenness to light up Lebanon’s educational sector, and highlighted Japan’s recent approach to promote the use of renewable energy in Lebanon’s key sectors during the crisis.
From their side, ACC thanked Japan for its generous support and stressed the positive impacts this project will have on the vulnerable students.
