RIYADH: Saudi Arabia responded to a distress call from a ship carrying the Iranian flag in the Red Sea on Thursday, according to Al Arabiya reports.

The Iranian ship asked for help due to an injury to one of its personnel on board, an Al Arabiya correspondent said.

No further official confirmation was given.

The Kingdom and Iran agreed in March to reestablish diplomatic relations and reopen embassies under a China-brokered deal signed in Beijing.
