TOKYO: Abdullah bin Faisal bin Turki Al Saud, the former governor of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority, has been awarded the Grand Cordon of Order of the Rising Sun, a highly esteemed honor in Japan. This prestigious imperial award is presented for exceptional contributions to bilateral relations. Al Saud received this recognition for his significant role in strengthening the economic ties between Japan and Saudi Arabia, as noted by the Foreign Ministry.

Ahmed Aboulgheit, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States and former Foreign Minister of Egypt, has been awarded the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun. This prestigious honor recognizes his efforts in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting friendship between Japan and Egypt, as well as between Japan and the League of Arab States.

The Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun, Japan’s highest award, was presented to former Jordanian Ambassador to Japan, Leena Madhuhar Hassan Annab, in recognition of her exceptional efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, the Foreign Ministry said.

Yousef Ahmed Al-Hnaity, the National Defense Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces, was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon.

Four individuals from Tunisia, representing a diverse range of fields and achievements, have been awarded the Gold Rays with Rosette. The recipients are Habib Gamra, co-founder and chairman of the Pan-African Course on Interventional Cardiology; Adnene Khouaja, first vice president of the Tunisia-Japan Friendship Association; Jamel Boujdaria, former director of the Asia, American, and Asian Affairs Bureau at Tunisia’s Foreign Ministry; and Imed Ben Ammar, former director of the Bourguiba Institute of Modern Languages.

A total of one thousand eight hundred eighty-eight individuals have been awarded, predominantly consisting of Japanese recipients. Among them are one hundred seven foreigners from 45 different countries and regions. Notable foreign awardees include former U.S. Ambassador to Japan William Hagerty and International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach, both of whom will receive the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for May 9 at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.
