The Japanese are interested in heritage, culture and adventure tourism, and Saudi Arabia can offer that now, Majid Al-Ghanim, managing director for tourism and quality of life at the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA), told Arab News Japan in Tokyo.
He added that the aim is to attract as many Japanese tourists to the Kingdom as possible. “We’d like to look at tourism in Saudi Arabia as a two-phase type of tourism,” he said.
The first phase will involve facilitating visa processes by 2022. “By that time most of the giga-projects are opening up, and we’ll have much more to offer to international tourists,” Al-Ghanim said.
