TOKYO: Saudi Arabia took its tourism offerings on tour this week for its inaugural roadshow in Japan, an in-person travel trade event in the country’s two largest cities, Osaka and Tokyo.

Leading travel trade players in Japan were invited to explore the breadth and diversity of the country’s travel products. During the event, the Saudi Tourism Authority signed MOUs with sevenstrategic partners in Japan, demonstrating its commitment tostrengthening relationships with key markets globally.

“The beauty of Saudi lies in its diversity, charm, authenticity and warmth and hospitality of our people,” said Alhasan Aldabbagh, Chief Markets Officer – APAC, Saudi Tourism Authority. “We are building the world’s biggest new destination and as we work towards achieving our ambitious tourism goals, we are committed to developing relationships with the right partners, to help us unlock priority source markets, drive growth, and create an exciting new destination for the Japanese traveler.”

Saudi Arabia opened up to tourists in 2019 and is building on itssuccess to date. In 2021, its tourism industry saw a 70% recovery to pre-pandemic levels. In 2022, the country’s commitment to its tourism development was recognized by the World Economic Forum’s Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI), where Saudi gained 10 spots in the global ranking.

Saudi Arabia has now lifted all travel Covid restrictions for international travelers and visitors from Japan can apply for a tourist visa online through the quick and easy-to-use eVisa platform prior to traveling.
