DUBAI: The 2017 animated movie “Kuroko’s Basketball: Last Game” will be released with Arabic and English subtitles across cinemas in the Middle East on August 17.

Spacetoon, one of the largest and most successful free-to-air television channels in the Middle East, is the official distributor for the movie, and will be providing the Arabic and English subtitles.

The movie is based on Tadatoshi Fujimaki’s sports manga “Kuroko’s Basketball,” which follows a high school basketball team as they try to compete in the national tournament. The manga was published from 2008 to 2014, selling over 31 million copies by 2020.

An anime adaptation ran for three seasons, from 2012 to 2015. In 2021, Spacetoon acquired a license agreement to release an Arabic dubbed version of the show on their streaming application “Spacetoon GO.”

In March 2017 during its opening weekend in Japan, the movie sold 124,000 tickets for ¥190 million, and was ranked 6th in attendance on average per screen. In May 2017, the film grossed a total of over ¥1 billion from 752,856 admissions.
