TOKYO: A Pokémon live-action Japanese drama, starring a former J-pop idol, will air on Japanese TV on October 19.
The show, titled Pocket Filled With Adventure, focuses on a former Pokémon fan’s life as she regains her love for the game after receiving a care package from her mother that includes a Game Boy and Pokémon Red.
The protagonist will be played by Nanase Nishino, a former member of award-winning Japanese group Nogizaka46, who sold around 18 million CDs in Japan. The 29-year-old has starred in multiple dramas since leaving the group in 2018, such as Dr. Chocolate and Your Turn to Kill.
The show will air on Tokyo TV every Thursday. The television station also produced the show alongside The Pokémon Company. It is unclear whether the show will debut outside Japan.
