Yoshiki joined the ranks of famous Hollywood stars Tom Hanks and Marilyn Monroe after cemented handprints and footprints of the Japanese musician were unveiled in front of the TCL Chinese theater in Hollywood on Tuesday.

A member of rock band X Japan, Yoshiki became the first Japanese to be honored with the imprints.

Expressing his joy, Yoshiki said he never imagined such a thing would happen.

Yoshiki also expressed his sadness over the powerful earthquake that hit the Noto Peninsula in Japan on January 1.

He said he will sell his own piano at an auction and donate the proceeds to help those hit by the disaster.

Yoshiki’s extensive work both in Japan and overseas such as the composition of Golden Globe Awards theme music seems to have borne fruit.
