DUBAI: After the first promo Pikachu card caused a riot at the Van Gogh Museum, the gallery will reissue the card in March.

The Pikachu card will be back in shops with a higher level of security to celebrate Pokémon-related events at the Amsterdam-based Museum this March.

The promo card showed Pikachu in Van Gogh’s signature impressionistic style, as he appeared with a grey felt hat.

Other select stores around the Netherlands will also stock a new batch of the cards, adding that customers who spend over ¥4,748 ( or$32 USD) on Pokémon merchandise will receive the card free of charge.

In September, videos went viral on social media of hoards of people rushing to buy the Pikachu card.

The partnership between the museum and the Pokémon Company aims to attract children to learn more about Van Gogh.
