The Global Day, an annual ethnic & cultural festival was held in the campus of Gulf Medical University (GMU) in Ajman city, UAE and featured various stalls from different countries including Japan.

Prasanna Appiya Premvignesh, Anime Club Leader at Gulf Medical University shared exclusively to Arab New Japan about the Japanese stall at the event:” This was my first time participating for Japan Stall, I did volunteer last year to help out with decorations and selling merchandise. But this year, I was organizing everything with the help of my friends”.

“We sold keychains and stickers that are related to popular anime series and some Japanese-themed products as well. Food was made by a university student and as we mentioned gyoza (dumplings), brownies, shaved ice, and a drink of lemon and strawberry were handmade and given to the attendees.

“Activities, goldfish scooping, and the balloon bamboo were the most engaging, in which people had a ton of fun trying to scoop the goldfish from the container. Balloon bamboo is a friendly battle between two people and watching them play and see who emerges victorious was thrilling, and the winner would receive a Japanese jelly!”. “Some of our members had worn attire from Riku Sui Dhaaga fashion studio which is a fusion of abaya and kimono that were stunning! We also received an artistic painting from Suranga Navarathne which was very generous of him,” she added.

About the feedback from the visitors who visited the Japanese stall at the event, Premvignesh said:” The feedback was amazing! A lot of people were fond of the activities, food, and merchandise, we had a few people asking for the recipes of the brownies but it’s a secret. A ton of people were thrilled with our performance as well. And we had a few people asking me to be the organizer for the Japan stall net year as well, so let’s see!”.

Other activities were two main parts performances at the event, the first being a solo song sung by a 4th year nursing student named Winnie, and the song Asphyxia by Co Shu Nie. There was also a dance performance on the song Bling Bang Bang Born by Creepy Nuts.
