Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the country’s official news agency, participated in an international workshop hosted by the Japanese camera manufacturer Nikon Corporation in Georgia, where it showcased its pioneering usage of Nikon’s SR-1 Camera Robot and File Transfer Protocol (FTP) technology during the 33rd Arab Summit in May.
Using the SR-1, BNA was successfully capable of capturing more than 35,000 high-resolution images during the Arab Summit. This innovative approach, combined with the use of FTP technology for real-time image transmission, streamlined the agency’s workflow and ensured rapid coverage of the event.
“We conducted a series of training sessions for BNA photographers to optimize the system’s functionality during the summit,” Nikon Middle East’s Managing Director Narendra Menon said. “We are very pleased with this achievement and thank BNA for their efforts.”
Yacoub Al Sada, BNA’s Head of Photography and Photographic Editing, who represented the agency during the event, emphasized the significance of this technological advancement. He highlighted that BNA is the first in the Middle East to utilize FTP for broadcasting images of a major international event.
“This technology facilitated our comprehensive coverage of the 33rd Arab Summit,” he said. “This reflects BNA’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge technologies in media and photography.”
Known for its portability and ability to capture unique perspectives, the SR-1 Camera Robot proved to be an invaluable item during the summit. The FTP technology, which allows for fast and secure transmission of large numbers of high-resolution images, further enhanced BNA’s ability to deliver timely and comprehensive coverage.
The event also marked the official launch of the SR-1 robot by Nikon subsidiary Mark Roberts Motion Control.
