Adult Swim, the programming block by the American cable channel Cartoon Network, has announced that the highly anticipated anime spin-off of its hit show ‘Rick and Morty’ will start airing on Aug. 15.
The anime series, titled ‘Rick and Morty: The Anime’, will consist of 10 episodes directed by ‘Tower of God’ director Takashi Sano.
The award-winning show follows Rick Sanchez, a mad scientist, and his grandson, Morty Smith, as they go through adventures across different dimensions and realities.
A new trailer showcases a glimpse of the anime as well as the appearance of various side characters, such as Space Beth and Birdperson.
Japanese actor Yohei Tadano will voice Sanchez in the show. He is known for his role as Vegapunk in ‘One Piece’. Additionally, Keisuke Chiba will voice Smith and Akiha Matsui will voice Smith’s sister, Summer.
The anime’s first episode will be released in its English-dubbed version on Aug. 15 followed by the original Japanese voiceover on Aug. 17.
In Dec. 2023, the first trailer for the show was released, which showcases Sanchez finding himself in a parallel universe while flying in space.
