ABU DHABI: The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition promoted the official Expo 2025 mascot MYAKU-MYAKU at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), which was held from Nov. 4 to 7.
The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition exhibited a PR booth at the Japan Pavilion and introduced the appeal of Expo 2025 and its efforts towards sustainability.
“MYAKU-MYAKU” visited the UAE for the first time and actively promoted the attractions of the Expo to a wide audience.
“Our official character made its first appearance in the UAE and kicked off the promotions of Expo 2025.” Yohei Arai, Deputy Director at the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, told Arab News Japan.
“In our PR booth, we also showcased the Expo’s green and sustainability initiatives following the theme of ADIPEC. In March 2024, we published the ‘Expo 2025 Green Vision’ regarding decarbonization and resource recycling in order to achieve sustainability
About the response and feedback from visitors who came to their booth at ADIPEC 2024, Arai said, “The UAE has a high level of awareness of World Expos due to its experience with Dubai Expo 2020. Many of the visitors to our booth have participated in Expo 2020, and many of them expressed a desire to visit Expo 2025.”
Regarding their upcoming activities following ADIPEC 2024, Arai said: “MYAKU-MYAKU will visit key locations in the UAE, including Expo City Dubai, and will also pay a courtesy visit to VIPs. We hope that this will encourage the people of the UAE to take an interest in and visit Expo 2025.”
Arai also shared that Expo will have many things that attendees can look forward to seeing, such as the Grand Ring. “This is the symbol of the Expo and one of the largest wooden structures in the world. The Grand Ring, with a circumference of 2 km, is the main passageway within the Expo site,” he said. “61 countries will participate, so you can enjoy not only their pavilions but also events, cultural performances, food, and more. Of course, the UAE will participate and set up one of the largest pavilions.”
“At Expo 2025, people can also see the latest technology, such as flying cars and green technologies. Moreover, 13 corporations and organizations will exhibit their own pavilions, such as Panasonic and Sumitomo Holdings. Bandai Namco Holding is planning to produce the Gundam Pavilion where visitors can meet Gundam at that pavilion,” he added.
Expo 2025 will be held from 13 April to 13 Oct. 2025 in Osaka.
