TOKYO: Former Prime Minister HATOYAMA Yukio, deeply empathizing with the Gazan people, denounced US President Trump’s statement on forcing them out of their land expressing his concern for the Palestinian residents in Gaza.

Hatoyama expressed that the US president is acting like a ‘king of the world’ and asked him for an apology, urging him to ‘think’ about the feelings of the Palestinian residents.

On his social media account X, Hatoyama criticized Trump, saying: “What if someone who loves their hometown has it destroyed, and then the person who helped destroy it tells them to leave because their hometown is no longer inhabitable?”

Hatoyama also demanded an apology from Trump for the destruction of Gaza and said they must rebuild it to make it habitable.

With a direct message to Trump, Hatoyama urged: “Mr. Trump, stop acting like you own Gaza and acting as if you are the king of the world.”

Hatoyama, who served as the Prime Minister of Japan in September 2009 for nine months, is known for his striking statements that stand out among the typically reserved and conservative Japanese politicians.
