ABU DHABI: teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, a groundbreaking multi-sensory art experience, is set to open its doors to the public on April 18 in Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Cultural District.

The announcement was made by the UAE capital’s Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT), Miral, the leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences in the capital, and the internationally renowned art collective teamLab.

Spanning 17,000 square meters, the experience will feature transformative exhibits designed to engage sight, sound, and touch, offering visitors a dynamic and ever-evolving artistic journey.

Operated by Miral Experiences, a subsidiary of Miral, the attraction aims to push the boundaries of artistic expression by blending art, science, and technology.

Unlike traditional art installations, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi’s exhibits will not exist independently but will be shaped by their environment, ensuring a unique experience with each visit.

Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, highlighted the significance of the project, stating: “Saadiyat Cultural District is a testament to Abu Dhabi’s commitment to preserving heritage while embracing a forward-looking vision. The district will convey a message of cultural diversity that will become more powerful over time, creating global connections, inspiring cultural exchange, and fostering new ways of thinking to support the region, the global South, and the world. We believe in the diversity of artistic expression, and teamLab is the perfect partner to provide immersive art experiences that push the boundaries of art and technology. Together, we are redefining what is possible expanding our horizons and forging deeper connections in ways never seen before.”

Conceived by Tokyo-based art collective teamLab, the installations at teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi are based on the concept of ‘Environmental Phenomena.’

This approach allows artworks to emerge and evolve through their surroundings rather than existing as static objects. Housed in a purpose-built structure designed by teamLab Architects in collaboration with Abu Dhabi-based MZ Architects, the space itself will play a crucial role in fostering the continuous transformation of each exhibit.
