A four-part documentary about Studio Ghibli’s co-founder and iconic animator Hayao Miyazaki is available to watch for free on the Japanese national broadcast NHK.
Ten Years with Hayao Miyazaki, which was released in 2019, celebrates the life and work of the acclaimed animator.
The documentary portrays Miyazaki during the development of anime series like Ponyo and the Wind Rises.
The four-part docuseries showcases Miyazaki in both his work and personal life, as he discusses topics such as aging, the evolution of anime, and his personal relationships.
A special part of the documentary also shows how the acclaimed animator went on with Studio Ghibli’s projects even with unforeseen circumstances, such as the earthquake and nuclear disaster in Japan in 2011.
The docuseries is available on NHK’s website or on the mobile app, free of cost.
