Sharjah’s International Photography Festival, ‘Xposure,’ took place last month and attracted some of the biggest names in the industry.

The event featured a gamut of activities like photography competitions, exhibitions, expert reviews, trade exhibitions, outdoor exhibitions and professional workshops and lectures.

Speaking exclusively to Arab News Japan, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Council (SMC) said the fifth edition of the event was “exceptional” amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We took all the safety measurements for COVID-19 to ensure the safety of the visitors and exhibitors as this year’s edition of the festival saw an increase in terms of space and number of featured pictures from many photographers around the world,” he added.

Xposure 2021 brought some of the most inspiring images from across the world with more than 1500 photos by 400 international photographers, who have quite literally gone to the ends of the earth to capture nature’s beauty, people’s lives, historical events, and more.

Al Qasimi said a new award has been introduced this year known as the “Unknown Soldier.”

The award goes to a photojournalist who has taken a photograph, however, the credit goes to the newspaper or media platform they work for.

The Xposure International Photography Festival has in a very short time established itself as a premier global event dedicated to celebrating the art of photography and expanding professional frontiers for aspiring professionals in the region.
