DUBAI: Popular video game the Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions Character Pass added three more characters to take on the field, one of which is a Saudi Arabian player.

Mark Owairanvia, a prince of Saudi Arabia, will join Shingo Aoi of the Golden Trio and the famous Tornado Shot player Ryoma Hino as the new characters in Captain Tsubasa.

Bandai Namco’s MENA social media and event manager Rashed Mokdad told Arab News Japan:
“Captain Tsubasa’s popularity in the Arab world cannot be overstated and we’re happy to have a representative from KSA to be in the game.”

Three more characters are meant to be added to the video game to fill out the pass’ promised nine characters.

Bandai Namco’s soccer game, also known as Captain Majid in the Middle East, will feature the new characters on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and on PC via “STEAM.”

In 2019, Saudi Arabia and Japan signed an agreement to bring Captain Tsubasa, created by Yoichi Takahashi, back to the small screen. The cartoon is an old-school favorite in the Middle East.

Those who haven’t purchased Captain Tsubasa’s Character Pass can still do so for about ¥2,700 yen (or $24.99 USD) on all platforms.
