DUBAI: Director of Sonic the Hedgehog Jeff Fowler announced on Twitter that the production for the sequel of the popular film began. The release date is expected on April 8, 2022.

The studio decided to produce a sequel after last year’s Sonic the Hedgehog grossed over $319 million dollars worldwide to become one of the biggest movie releases in 2020.
The first movie starred Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, James Marsdenas Thomas Michael “Tom” Wachowski and Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski while Ben Schwartz voiced Sonic the Hedgehog.
