DUBAI: The first-ever edition of the Michelin Guide Dubai unveiled a selection of restaurants that celebrate Dubai’s culinary scene. Five Japanese restaurants were awarded by the highly sought-after Michelin honours.
First up is a nine-seat omakase restaurant Höseki, which was awarded one MICHELIN star. The restaurant is run by a sixth-generation sushi master, Masahiro Sugiyama, and offers an authentic omakase experience, with fresh ingredients imported daily from Japan.
The Michelin Guide Dubai also put three Japanese restaurants under the spotlight with the Bib Gourmand award, including: Goldfish, a sushi and yakitori concept by chef Akmal Anuar; Kinoya, a popular authentic Japanese menu including ramen, sushi and sashimi; lastly, Singaporean chef-owner Reif Othman’s REIF Japanese Kushiyaki, which focuses on street food-style dishes.
A Young Chef Award by the Michelin guide was handed to Solemann Haddad of MICHELIN-selected restaurant Moonrise. Haddad brings local ingredients and uses them to create a blend of Japanese Kaiseki with Middle Eastern ingredients.
