Rafi Kabbas is collaborating with another internationally acclaimed photographer to showcase a unique series that will pay homage to the iconic Japanese manga robot.
The series is the first-ever collaboration of acclaimed Swiss photographer, Marc Ninghetto, and Rafi Kabbas, to create nine large-format prints, juxtaposing the larger than life Grendizer across several locations in the UAE.
It will be part of the UAE’s most prominent landscape-focused photography tour group called ‘Wandering Shutterbugs’.
To be showcased at MB&F M.A.D.Gallery at Dubai Mall, it will mark the debut of the 3rd edition of ‘The Solitude of a Machine’ photography series. It will span the urban skyline and the grand beauty of the desert.
Using the “digital sampling” technique, Marc implements a process where he captures images of three-dimensional robot models and then incorporates them within landscape and background photographs, ultimately enabling Grendizer to be a part of our ‘real’ world.
“Grendizer featured very prominently in my childhood and to see him come to life and be portrayed in such a realistic way, against the backdrop of the UAE, is a very special feeling,” Maximilian Büsser, M.A.D.Gallery founder and curator, said.
‘The Solitude of a Machine III” comprises 9 photographs, each available in 3 different sizes.
