DUBAI: The first edition of “Japan Film Week,” an event that organized by the Consulate General of Japan in Dubai and the UAE’s Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research, started on Monday in a special opening ceremony at Ras Al Khaimah’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The opening ceremony started with a speech from Shoji RYUNO, Deputy Consul General of Japan Consulate in Dubai, where he expressed his appreciation and gratitude for this wonderful event as part of the celebration for 50th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the UAE.
The opening ceremony was followed by the screening of Japanese film “Samurai Cat,” where masterless samurai Kyutaro Madarame is hired by a dog-loving gang to get rid of their rival gang’s beloved pet, an adorable white cat. Upon raising his sword, however, he cannot bring himself to go through with the act and the cat melts his heart.
A representative of the Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation said “Japan Film Week is a collaboration with the Consulate General of Japan in Dubai and the idea behind the event is to enhance and highlight the Japanese culture in Ras Al Khaimah and UAE overall.”
