DUBAI: Studio Khara’s Shin Ultraman movie, which was released in Japan last May is available now in original Japanese language English and Arabic subtitles at Middle East cinemas.

The movie’s story is with the emergence of giant, violent monsters known as “S-Class Species,” the Japanese government has formed the SSSP to study and formulate how to defeat them. During one such monster attack, the SSSP is shocked to gain a new ally in their fight against the monsters: a silent silver giant who they name “Ultraman.”

The movie grossed ¥4.38 billion ($31.2 million) at the Japanese box office. Upon its release, it became the highest-grossing Japanese live-action film of 2022 until it was overtaken by Kingdom II: Harukanaru Daichi e, as well as the most commercially successful film in the Ultraman franchise, surpassing the 2008 film Superior Ultraman 8 Brothers.

The movie was delayed from its previously planned release date in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The movie directed by Shinji Higuchi, who also directed Shin Godzilla, and Hideaki Anno, the creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion, is in charge of planning and scripts for it.

The cast of Shin Ultraman movie includes: Takumi Saitoh (Shinji Kaminaga), Masami Nagasawa, Daiki Arioka, Akari Hayami, Tetsushi Tanaka, Hidetoshi Nishijima, Koji Yamamoto, Ryo Iwamatsu, Kyusaku Shimada, Toru Masuoka, Keishi Nagatsuka, Hajime Yamazaki and Toshihiro Wada with Hideaki Anno and Bin Furuya as Ultraman.

The movie is a reboot of Tsuburaya Production’s original 1966 “Ultraman” series and part of the franchise’s 55th anniversary.
