DUBAI: Sony officially confirmed it is working on a new handheld PlayStation device to make it easier to play PlayStation 5 games.
The new product was announced at PlayStation Showcase and is called Project Q.
Project Q will enable gamers to stream any game from their PS5 console, using ‘Remote Play’ over Wi-Fi, according to PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan. The handheld console has an 8-inch HD screen and all of the buttons and features of the DualSense wireless controller.

The LCD screen will run games at up to 1080p and 60fps over Wi-Fi and will feature both the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback of the DualSense.
The Q handheld is designed as a companion to the PS5, therefore any game played on the device must first be installed on the PS5 console itself.
Handheld gaming devices are increasing in popularity, and Sony is responding with its own offering. The Nintendo Switch, for example, is currently the third best-selling handheld console of all time, following its great success since its launch in 2017.
