Japan’s revised industrial output down 9.8 percent in April

TOKYO: Japan's industrial production in April fell a revised 9.8 percent from the previous month, against the preliminary reading of a 9.1 percent decrease, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Friday.

The seasonally adjusted production index for the manufacturing and mining sectors stood at 86.4 against 100 for the base year of 2015, according to the revised data.

The revised shipment index dropped 9.5 percent to 84.3, worse than an 8.8 percent decline in the preliminary report announced last month.

The inventory index was down 0.3 percent at 106.1, unchanged from the preliminary report.
