BRUSSELS: Japan and the European Union signed an aviation safety pact on Monday.
The pact is intended to eliminate redundancy in inspections of airplanes conducted during export and import procedures to help related industries reduce costs and promote aircraft trade.
It will take effect after the completion of approval and other necessary procedures in Japan and the EU.
A signing ceremony for the pact, held in Brussels, was attended by Kazuo Kodama, Japan's ambassador at the country's mission to the EU, and European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean.
Japan and the EU effectively agreed on the pact in July last year.
