Japan imported 33 million barrels of crude oil from Saudi Arabia in August

TOKYO: Saudi Arabia provided 33.181 million oil barrels to Japan in August 2020 ranking first in the list of providers according to the Agency of Energy and Natural Resource in Tokyo.

This amounts to 45.3% of total Japanese crude oil imports of 73.189 million barrels during that month, the agency that belongs to the ministry of economy, trade and industry said.

In August, Japan imported from UAE 18.143 million barrels or 24.8% of the total imports, while Kuwait provided 6.266 million barrels or 8.6%.

Japan imported from Russia 5.109 million barrels or 7.0% and nearly same amount from Qatar.

Arab oil, including shipments from Iraq, Bahrain and Algeria, accounted for 64.916 or 88.7%, of Japan’s petroleum needs in August, the agency said.
