NEW YORK: Honda Motor Co. said Friday it will set up a new company to combine its automobile manufacturing and development operations in the United States.
The Japanese automaker will establish the new company, Honda Development & Manufacturing of America LLC, in Ohio on April 1 next year, American Honda Motor Co. said.
The move is designed to “become a more lean, nimble and unified company in North America,” Shinji Aoyama, president and CEO at American Honda, said in a statement.
The change is “vital to our ongoing effort to make Honda in America stronger and more responsive to the customer, better able to invest in advanced technology, and prepared to meet future market needs,” Aoyama said.
