NEW YORK: Nissan Motor Co. will recall a total of 454,055 vehicles, including SUVs, mainly in North America for free repairs, sources related to the Japanese automaker said Friday.
Brake oil may leak from equipment to activate the antilock braking system in the vehicles, possibly leading to a short circuit and causing the cars to catch fire as a result, the sources said.
Four models, including the 2015-2018 model year of the Murano SUV and the 2016-2018 model year of the Maxima sedan, will be subject to the recall, according to the sources.
Of the total vehicles, 394,025 units are in the United States, and 42,833 units in Canada, the sources said. The recall will not affect vehicles in Japan.
It is not known if any accidents or other incidents related to the problem have happened.
