Japan Broadcasting Corp., or NHK, said Tuesday that its receiving fee revenue for April-September rose 1.2 pct from a year before to a record 359.6 billion yen, up for the sixth straight year.
Its consolidated operating revenue came to 399.6 billion yen, up 1.3 pct, according to the public broadcaster.
NHK enjoyed the fee revenue growth because subscription applications increased after the Supreme Court ruled the receiving fee system constitutional in December 2017.
Of all households required to pay receiving fees, 82.4 pct had made the payments as of the end of September, up from 81.5 pct a year before.
However, NHK saw its net income decrease 2.4 pct to 28.5 billion yen.
