TOKYO: Japan and Israel held their 9th Joint Committee meeting on cooperation on science and technology on Wednesday, Japan’s Foreign Ministry announced. The two countries are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
During the online meeting, both sides shared recent developments concerning science, technology and innovation policies, and exchanged views on their current collaborations.
The committee discussed ways to promote further cooperation such as between universities and research institutions of both countries through exchanging researchers.
The committee also discussed bilateral cooperation and future plans in some of the priority areas such as ICT and agriculture, focusing on joint research and academic exchanges among industry, academia and government, the ministry said.
The meeting was co-chaired by Nakane Takeshi, Ambassador for Science and Technology Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and Maya Yaron, Director of the North-East Asia Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel. Attendees included a range of representatives from the relevant ministries and agencies of both countries.
