DUBAI: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) provided new medical equipment to Abou El Reesh Japanese hospital in Cairo; a new medical building along with new medical equipment were provided to enhance the out- patient services for Cairo university specialized pediatric hospital; known as abou el reesh Japanese hospital.

On November 30, 2022, JICA handed over the new building and medical equipment to the hospital within the framework of the grant project named “Establishment of Outpatient Clinics of the Children’s Specialized Hospital of Cairo University.”

A total of 3,115 square meters of a new 7-storey outpatient clinic building has been built, and more than 100 medical devices have been installed through this project, according to the JICA Egypt office.

JICA added that the construction of the Abou El Reesh Japanese hospital was completed seven years after the signing of the exchange memorandum between the Egyptian government and the Japanese government.

In July, Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, President of Cairo University, announced the completion of construction works and exterior and interior finishes on the outpatient clinic building project at Abu El Reesh Japanese Hospital for Children, which was carried out in cooperation with the JICA.

Elkhosht said that the outpatient clinic building project at Abu El Reesh Japanese Hospital contributes to upgrading the level of medical services provided in university hospitals and represents an academic medical model that serves the general health of the Egyptian child.

The financial and economic cooperation between Egypt and Japan has recorded around $3 billion to fund 14 projects in multiple diverse sectors; Japan has been supporting Egypt since the COVID-19 break through with grants valued at $28 million.

Egyptian minister of international cooperation, Rania Al Mashat, signed a deal with JICA and the Japanese embassy to increase the latest grant to $19 million; this helps in giving a great boost to building and improving the children’s’ out-patient services in the children’s specialist hospital by Cairo university.
