Arab News JapanDUBAI: Japan’s Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries FUJIKI Shinya said on Feb. 20 at Gulfood Dubai that beef exports from Japan to the UAE rose 43 percent last year compared to previous years.

“This growth rate is very high and is expected to continue to grow in the UAE and the Middle East,” Fujiki said.

At the Wagyu pavilion at Dubai’s largest food and beverage exhibition Gulfood, the Parliamentary Secretary explained that Japan is currently promoting its export of agriculture, fishery and forestry products.

“Our Japanese wagyu beef is known for its tender and melt in mouth texture, it is juicy and full of condensed, delicate flavor,” Fujiki added.

At the Wagyu booth, a chef demonstrated how the beef is cooked, while another demonstration showcased how the beef was cut up.

Wagyu Kimono Butcher WATANABE Marika demonstrated the beef cutting, while telling the tale of how she became one of the only female butchers in Japan.

Visitors at Gulfood were also served samples of the wagyu beef.

It is the 28th edition of the exhibition with over 5000 companies from more than 125 countries, a line-up of industry thought leaders and the world’s renowned chefs all in Dubai.
