SEOUL: Business leaders from Japan and South Korea said Wednesday they have agreed to cooperate in digital, green and other new industrial areas.
In a joint statement adopted at the end of a two-day meeting in Seoul, participants said they will work toward building trust and a close partnership through interactions in a wide range of areas.
They stressed the importance of advancing efforts to improve Japan-South Korea ties. Tokyo and Seoul have taken steps in recent months, including mutual visits by their leaders, to improve relations after years of deteriorating ties over history issues.
Speaking at a press conference after the meeting, Mikio Sasaki, head of the Japanese delegation and former chairman of trading house Mitsubishi Corp., said the participants affirmed that cooperation between the two countries has never been more important.
The two-day meeting between Japanese and South Korean business leaders took place in-person for the first time in four years.
