Etihad Airways is now set to fly to Osaka five times a week starting October 1. The introduction of the new route aims to support the growing trade and tourism ties between the UAE and Japan.

The airline already flies to Tokyo, and adding another route to Japan will provide another gateway to the country.

Etihad’s CEO Antonoaldo Neves said the new route to Osaka will give travelers an opportunity to visit Abu Dhabi as well.

“As one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities, I know visitors will enjoy exploring its heritage and sampling some of Osaka’s renowned hospitality. Equally, the new route opens up Abu Dhabi to visitors from Osaka, and we look forward to welcoming guests to our vibrant home as well as giving them access to our growing, global network,” he said.

Japan has recently eased tourism visas for residents in the UAE, allowing them to apply for a visa online rather than at the Japanese Embassy.

The short-term tourist visa will allow residents from the UAE to stay for up to 90 days.
