DUBAI: Yui Halal is a Japanese Muslim content creator with a commitment to guide others on Halal and Muslim-friendly facilities in Japan as well as share useful information for Muslims in Japan.
Yui told Arab News Japan that she was introduced to Islam through a Saudi woman. “I knew that there was a problem preventing her from enjoying fully Japan. It was non-Halal food. After doing my research, I came to know that there was a religion called Islam. I knew that a lot of Muslims living in Japan had the same problem,” she said.
Her knowledge about Muslims living in Japan inspired her to become a content creator two years ago. “Thinking about it now, all of this was guidance (Hidaya) from Allah,” Yui said.
“I chose Halal as the concept of my content. I try to share with Muslims the Halal food, prayer places, and Muslima-style Japanese Kimonos (in Japan). My first project was to gather as much needed information regarding Halal restaurants in Tokyo since I lived there and share the information on my Instagram account while rating the food of these restaurants,” she added.
The content creator converted to Islam approximately one year after becoming a content creator. “The reason (was that) the more I was studying about Islam for my content, the more I knew about this religion. I started learning things that were not related to food, like prayer, Allah, the rules in Islam and women’s rights in Islam,” she shared.
About the challenges that she faced during her projects, Yui said: “One of the biggest challenges was the Arabic language and the cultural differences between Arabs and Japan. In Japan, there are only few resources available to learn Arabic and a lot of the Arabic teachers in Japan do not speak Japanese fluently, so learning from them was difficult. As for the Islamic culture, the most difficult thing is memorizing the Quran since it’s in Arabic.”
Yui went on a business trip to the UAE recently and she enjoyed her stay as she explored the beautiful places in the country.
Regarding her upcoming projects in the near future, Yui said that she will be launching a new platform in the next few months to teach Arabs the Japanese language
