Rameow Ramen, a premium ramen brand by Electric Pawn Shop in Dubai, focuses on authentic Japanese ramen and other yummy Asian appetizers.
Lobito Brigante, co-owner of Electric Pawn Shop, shared exclusively to Arab News Japan about opening Rameow Ramen in Dubai.
“Rameow Ramen launched as a sub brand of the award-winning Electric Pawn Shop in August 2024. We wanted to really bring our own authentic and individual expression of ramen culture as we had already covered a lot of culinary ground with Electric Pawn Shop which made it into the World 50 Best Discovery restaurants listing. Authenticity with our own unique expression is what we aim to do.”
“I think for a lot of people in the region ramen is new and sometimes is seen as a strange food by those who haven’t experienced it. Which is similar to how sushi started as a trend but as is well known the community of ramen heads is growing every year and we wanted to give them a flavor and ramen expression that’s unique to us.
“Our co-owner Lynn Lin worked tirelessly for months doing deep research with our chef on the recipes and making sure we offered something you can’t find anywhere else. She really put all her passion into the recipes and broth like a true ramen warrior,” he added.
About the response and feedback from the people who tried Japanese food at Rameow Ramen in Dubai, Brigante said: “People’s feedback and reception has been amazing so far and not only from our friends but several ramen heads have told us we have made their favorite ramen in the city. Obviously at a high-level ramen really becomes about mood and expression but we feel the flavor and high-quality ingredients as well as the passion we’ve put in really shines through.”
About distinguishing Rameow Ramen from other Japanese restaurants in Dubai, Brigante said, “I think it’s the quality of ingredients and the balance of the broth, we also are one of the few places that has foam on the broth of the Paitan Ramen.
“Many ramen chefs believe that the best ramen comes from adding a personal touch to every bowl. From the unusual spices added to the broth, to the different thickness of noodles, from the umami-rich tare made with a distinct blend of sea delicacies, to the particular blend of fragrant oil. It is about style. For us, it is Rameow Ramen style,” he added.
Regarding Rameow Ramen’s plans for the near future, Brigante said: “We are looking to keep building the brand and take it on the road to appear at a few events and festivals and help spread Japanese culture.”
About his recommendations for those who want to try the food at Rameow Ramen, Brigante said: “Definitely our signature Duck Paitan Ramen, we can’t get enough of it and if you have a sweet tooth the Sakura cherry cola is highly addictive,” he warned.
