The Tokyo One Piece Tower theme park will permanently shut down on July 31, according to an announcement on the One Piece official website.
According to a statement provided by the franchise’s staff, they said it would be difficult to maintain the quality of services and indoor facilities, due to the spread of the new coronavirus COVID-19.
“After the state of emergency was lifted and various measures were taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infectious disease along with the Tokyo roadmap, we have carefully discussed and examined it before resuming business,” One Piece stated.
The theme park will reopen before its permanent closure, and will continue to allow a limited number of guests every day, free of charge.
The Tokyo One Piece Tower opened in March 2015. The attraction hosts stage shows, carnival games, stamp rallied and exhibitions for Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga and anime.
