Ashikaga Scramble City Studio is a film set replica of the famous Shibuya Scramble Crossing, a multi-cornered intersection and one of Tokyo’s famous landmarks.
Ashikaga have constructed a 71,042-square foot set amidst a flat landscape to make post-production editing easier.
The set also includes features like subway entrances, streetlights, and statues to mirror the original setting, without needing a film permit to gain access.
The set is located in Ashikaga city, Tochigi prefecture, approximately one-and-a-half-hour drive from central Tokyo.
For video work, the rate to rent the space starts at 800,000 yen ($7,575 USD).
The studio urges reservations to be made at least one year in advance for studio lots, and they can be made over the phone, after that application forms need to be submitted and will be subject to approval.
There are also a set of guidelines on their website outlining the rules when using the set.
