Japanese toy company Bandai is celebrating Tamagotchi’s 25th anniversary by reintroducing their famous devices that have been upgraded to a smartwatch set to launch on Nov. 23.

The function of growing the pet into adulthood remains, but the device’s exterior has been reworked and can now be worn as a watch in two different colours including Mint Blue and Coral Pink priced at ¥6,380 each.

The Tamagotchi offers a diverse range of digital pets to choose and play with including Awamokotchi, Kuchipatchi, Gaogaltchi, Pyueltchi, Mametchi, Poptchi, Wawatchi, Tuyoputchi, Milktchi, and Karapatchi.

Aside from the obvious functions, the watch also enables pairing with another Tamagotchi Smart, to allow digital pets to mingle. Additionally, the pet’s world can be personalized using the TamaSma Cards to gain access to accessories and items.

Interacting with the digital pets has been improved as users can now use the touchpad and microphone to console and care for the pet.

The official website assures that the more you care for your pet, the more you will be attached to it. Users can even express adoration for the digital pet by stroking its head on the screen.

The smartwatch also doubles as a watch and pedometer for added practicality.
