TOKYO: A Japan-Saudi Arabia eSports Match will be held over a period of two days (Oct. 2-3) during the “Tokyo Game Show 2021 ONLINE,” Asia’s largest game fair, Japan e-Sports Union (JESU) recently announced.

The Japan-Saudi Arabia eSports Match is an international e-sports event that was agreed in August 2018 with the Japan e-Sports Union at the invitation of Prince Faisal bin Bandar Al Saud, President of the Saudi Arabia Federation of International e-Sports (SAFeIS) and the Arab e-Sports Federation.

The event will hold both home and away matches, featuring a Japan Round and Saudi Arabia Round. The Saudi Arabia Round was originally scheduled to be held in July this year but is being rescheduled for 2022.

Due to the influence of COVID-19, it is difficult to hold events with spectators, but eSports can be exciting not only at the venue, but also online.

The Japan-Saudi Arabia eSports Match project is one of the projects of the “Japan-Saudi Vision 2030 2.0”, for which the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has put together a strategic partnership between Japan and Saudi Arabia.
